It also tries to have this huge stadium feeling that the song almost completely falls on it's ass trying to achieve. For some reason Tyler needs to have a bitchy and whiny sounding voice for almost the entire song.

Now we are still talking about a bad song here. Lane Boy has the exact same issues but it is a better song. And that's without taking into account the cringe lyrics "iM EviL tO tHE CorE" and a grossly radio filler instrumental. The 8-bit voice effect that was done so much better on Ride almost completely ruins the track from the start. Fairly Local is still my least favorite TOP song. This is the only song that comes anywhere close to Tear In My Heart.īut don't forget we are talking about Blurryface and it wouldn't be Blurryface without a slew of trash radio filler. The song evolves into an amazing rap breakdown with great flows and this digital crush. It's the only song that takes the "I wanna sound badass" approach and actually works.

Message Man has the best chorus on the album and the lead up to it is amazing. It's another peppy love song that works out great. This is the track along with Tear In My Heart that sounds most like a Vessel song.

We Don't Believe What's On TV has this ukulele that adds tons to the track. This song has amazing progression and ends at a great place. It has a great message and even delves into some political speak. Tear In My Heart is the best song on the album hands down with a beautiful poem-like approach to making a love song. I would say even better than what Ride tries to do.

Stressed Out, The other radio friendly track that works. Songs like Ride, One of the only radio friendly tracks on the album that actually works. If TOP spent more time coming up with more interesting lyrics and better instrumentals and less time talking about how the radio is bad when it so deviously delves into radio friendly sounds then it could have actually been a good album.ĭon't get me wrong there are good tracks maybe even what I would call great. It's bloated, has some of the most uncreative tracks that TOP has ever made, Is way too popular for its own good which is why the concept is ironic as all hell. I'm going to be somewhere in the middle of that spectrum leaning more towards the latter. But on another hand you could say it's a bloated mess of filler bullshit with an ironic concept. On one hand you can see it as a compilation of decent pop songs. Literally their most popular album and it's not even a contest.īlurryface is interesting. When I went back to listen to the TOP discography and was looking at some of my ratings for albums and singles I noticed I've never reviewed Blurryface.
